Our Mission

Salton Sea Conservation Coalition’s mission is to protect, restore, and improve the Salton Sea and its surrounding areas by advancing conservation, habitat restoration and enhancement, environmental education, and community stewardship. We work to strengthen the region’s wildlife habitats and natural and cultural resources through practical, science-informed projects and broad public engagement.

We pursue this mission by organizing and supporting habitat restoration and improvement efforts; promoting conservation solutions that benefit wildlife and people; and expanding public understanding of the Salton Sea through education, interpretation, and outreach. We mobilize volunteers and community partners to participate in hands-on stewardship, monitoring, cleanup, and conservation activities, while sharing reliable information through publications, workshops, and accessible educational materials.

We also use the arts and cultural programming to deepen public connection to the Salton Sea region—creating, presenting, and promoting visual, literary, and performing arts that build awareness and inspire responsible stewardship. We seek to collaborate with federal, state, tribal, and local agencies and organizations.

Through fundraising and grant-supported initiatives, we aim to build lasting capacity for conservation, restoration, and education across the greater Salton Sea region, ensuring that all activities serve charitable purposes and produce measurable public benefit.
